DHA Alumni Smith, Comrie, Budy and Stuart on NHL Midterm Rankings

Team West.jpgDHA is extremely proud to announce that four alumni are listed by NHL Central Scouting in the midterm rankings.

Ty Smith, currently plays for the Spokane Chiefs (WHL) and is ranked 14th.
Sean Comrie who currently plays for Spruce Grove (AJHL) is ranked 105th.
Brendan Budy currently play for Langley Rivermen  (BCHL) and is ranked 138th.
Brodi Stuart  who currently plays for Kamloops Blazers (WHL) is ranked 144th.

Budy and Comrie, representing Team West at the recent President’s Cup CJHL Hockey Prospects Game, defeated Team East 5-2 for the win.

Female Prep Organize Brain Cancer Fundraiser

Delta Hockey Academy Female Prep Brain Cancer Fundraiser game…..

In November, 2017, we lost our precious 9-year-old niece/cousin, Nora, to a rare and currently incurable childhood brain cancer (DIPG).

In Nora’s memory, our daughter Macy and her Delta Wild, Prep Female hockey team have organized an exhibition game against the Vancouver Comets Midget AAA Female hockey team. The purpose of this game is to raise awareness, and money for Meagan’s Walk which funds brain cancer research, including DIPG, at the Toronto Sick Kids Hospital.

It will be an exciting, action-packed competition. These 14- to 18-year-old ladies will demonstrate how advanced female hockey has become in Canada. The results of their years of hard practice, unwavering focus and excellent coaching will surely amaze you.

There will also be a puck toss and other fundraising activities in which you can engage.

Donations to the Meagan’s Walk Foundation can be made in Nora’s name by clicking on the link below, then clicking on the ‘Donate‘ button and completing the form. Any amount will be appreciated. Income tax receipts will be emailed for donations of $20+. Donations can also be made at the game by completing a pledge form which will also generate a tax receipt.

Alum Ty Smith named Team Orr Captain in Top Prospects game

DHA is extremely proud and congratulates alum Ty Smith on being appointed captain of Team Orr at the 2018 Sherwin-Williams CHL/NHL Top Prospects game.

The 17 year old offensive defenceman, who was drafted first overall in the 2015 WHL Bantam draft, is in his second full year with the Spokane Chiefs and has amassed 77 points in 112 WHL games.

The prospects game is scheduled for January 25th and is hosted by the Guelph Storm in Guelph, Ontario.

DHA raising the bar in the classroom

Congratulations to all those DHA student athletes who worked diligently and conscientiously in striking a balance between the demanding role of hockey and their academic pursuits.

DHA is proud to report that 32 players attained Principal’s List status while 117 players attained Honour Roll accolades for Term 1.  The Principal’s List requires students to attain a 92%  average or higher and an 83% average for Honour Roll in their best 6 of 8 courses.

Bantam Varsity RIBMHT Bantam Tier 1 Champions

Congratulations to the Bantam Varsity team on capturing gold at the recent 37th Annual Richmond International Bantam Midget Hockey Tournament.

The DHA squad (5-1) won the championship after posting a 6-3 win over Port Moody (3-1-2) on Sunday, December 31st. #wildpride

The RIBMHT, hosted by Richmond Minor Hockey, is one of the largest Bantam Midget Tournaments in Canada.

Elite 15 Western Sport School Challenge Champions

DHA is extremely proud to announce the Elite 15 team as the 2017 Western Sport School Challenge Champions!

After a great weekend of hockey in Calgary, the squad defeated the host team, Edge School, 5-2 in Game 6 of Sunday’s final match up.

The team went 4-0 in round robin pool play after defeating CNHA Canucks 4-2, OHA Edmonton 6-0, CBHA Blackhawks 6-1, and finally blanking out Prairie Hockey Academy 5-0.

In semi-final action DHA clipped the Calgary based Rockyview Raiders 3-1 to move onto Sunday’s final.

Friesen brings Operation Canadian Soldier to DHA

Delta Hockey Academy is extremely proud of teacher Jackie Friesen, who has introduced her English project, Operation Canadian Soldier to our program.

Midget Prep player Nic Ardanaz and Friesen reflect on the respect and admiration they have for those that have and for those that continue to fight for our country.

In Operation Canadian Soldier, Friesen has the students hand write meaningful letters to the soldiers to remind them that they are not forgotten. Lest we forget. #wildpride

Bantam Prep White emerge Chilliwack AAA Tournament Champs

Congratulations to the Bantam Prep White team on winning the Chilliwack AAA Tournament on Thanksgiving weekend!  Wild Pride!

Coach Tim reports that the “Delta Wild White battled through some difficult challenges  to win the AAA division at the Chilliwack Tournament.

After losing in the Elite pool and moving into the AAA division the White had a new goal in mind. In the first elimination game the White beat Shawinigan Lake 5-0. They then went on to face Okotoks winning 5-1 in a hard fought game. Okotoks was a big and strong team.

Delta played Calgary in the finals and won the championship 6-0.

The White team had success with a team first mind set. Contributions came from all 11 forwards and 6 Defence. Both goalies played well. They outscored their opponents 25-11 during the weekend event”.
