Ardanaz commits to Vipers for 2019-2020

DHA is extremely proud and congratulates Nick Ardanaz on committing to the Vernon Vipers for the 2019-2020 season. Nick will AP with the Vipers for the 2018-2019 season.

The 2002 born defenseman from Surrey tallied 31 points in 33 games last season with Delta Hockey Academy Elite 15s.

Moy commits to Suffolk University for 2018-2019

DHA is extremely proud and congratulates Stephanie Moy on committing to the Division 3 Suffolk Rams in Boston, MA. for the 2018-2019 season.

Steph is a solid stay at home defenceman who has been with the Delta Hockey Academy for 2 years and was awarded the CSSHL’s Top Defenceman for Female Varsity in 2017.

DHA wishes Steph all the success as she pursues her passions in hockey and Psychology. #wildpride

5 DHA Alumni on final NHL Central Scouting list

DHA is extremely proud and congratulates 5 DHA alumni on cracking the final NHL Central Scouting list.

North American Skaters include:

14) Ty Smith (Spokane Chiefs, WHL)

Smith, 18, attended the Delta Hockey Academy during the 2014-15 season, where he led the Bantam Prep Division in scoring with 28 points (9-19-28) in 16 games, while being named the Bantam Prep MVP.

108) Sean Comrie (Spruce Grove Saints, AJHL)

Comrie, 18, attended the Delta Hockey Academy during the 2015-16 season, netting 33 points (14-19-33) in 34 games with their CSSHL Championship winning Midget Prep team, while also being named the Midget Prep Top Defenceman award winner. The Edmonton, Alta. product will attend the University of Denver in 2019.

125) Brendan Budy (Langley Rivermen, BCHL)

Budy, 17, attended the Delta Hockey Academy from 2014 to 2016. During the 2015-16 season, the Langley, B.C. product helped his team capture the CSSHL Midget Prep Championship after collecting 43 points (19-24-43) in 27 games, while being named the Midget Prep Freshman of the Year. Budy will attend the University of Denver in 2018.

Stuart, 18, attended the Delta Hockey Academy from 2014 to 2016. During the 2015-16 season, the Langley, B.C. product helped his team capture the CSSHL Midget Prep Championship after registering 32 points (11-21-32) in 3

Taylor, 18, attended the Delta Hockey Academy during the 2015-16 season, where he posted the Midget Prep Division’s best goals-against average and save-percentage while capturing the 2016 CSSHL Midget Prep Championship. The Richmond, B.C. product will attend the University of New Hampshire in 2019.

Former NHLer Rick Lanz named Head Coach of E15 team

DHA is excited to announce Rick Lanz as their Head Coach for the E15 team for the 2018-2019 campaign.

Lanz was the Assistant Coach with DHA’s Bantam Prep Green team for 2017-2018 however his coaching career began in 1994 with Penticton, which was the beginning of his BCHL resume. The following year he was behind the bench in Langley before moving on to the Surrey Eagles where he took the team to the RBC Championship game in 1997. After one season as the head coach with the Western Hockey League’s Tri-City Americans, Lanz returned to the BCHL for eight more seasons which included winning the RBC Championship in 2006 with the Burnaby Express.

Prior to coaching, Lanz had an extensive playing career, which included 569 games in the National Hockey League with Vancouver, Toronto and Chicago. After three seasons in the Ontario Hockey League with the Oshawa Generals, Vancouver selected the defenceman seventh overall at the 1980 NHL Draft.

Lanz has spent the last several seasons as a scout for the Colorado Avalanche and this past season for the St. Louis Blues.

O’Hearn signs with BCHL’s Trail Smoke Eaters

DHA is extremely proud and congratulates Midget Prep player Kieran O’Hearn on signing with the BCHL’s Trail Smoke Eaters for the 2018-2019 campaign.

O’Hearn, who has been with the Academy for the past four years, won the Prep Championship in 2017 and has 69 has amassed points in 120 games for the DHA.

Milan Dragicevic named Head Coach of Bantam Prep White

Delta, BC – Milan Dragicevic, former AJHL, UBC Men’s, Vancouver Giants & local minor hockey development coach, has been named the Head Coach of the Bantam Prep White team at the Delta Hockey Academy.

Milan has an extensive coaching resume that started in Drayton Valley of the AJHL in 1998. He was named coach of the year in his second year behind the bench and was then offered the first coaching position with the expansion Vancouver Giants.

Dragicevic longest tenure was with UBC Men’s Hockey team, which he spent 12 years (2002-2014) as the bench boss and key figure in building the tradition at UBC.

Milan also has strong ties to the community and minor hockey in the lower mainland, especially in the Richmond area. The last 10 years he has been the Director of Development for the Richmond Ravens Female program and in addition the last 4 years Milan was Director of Hockey for Richmond Minor.

“I am extremely excited to start this new opportunity and continue working to help build the culture around high-performance student-athletes. The tradition created at the Delta Hockey Academy based on strong values and development of people, students, and hockey players, is something that I am looking forward to beinga part of and continuing that tradition.”

Milan is also the owner/operator of Dragicevic Hockey Development and runs the BC Selects spring program for boys.

His extensive coaching career speaks for itself, not to mention his work with UBC and the several minor hockey positions he has had locally.
