Bantam Evaluation Registration Now Open Limited Space Available Deadline March 15

Registration is now open for our Bantam Evaluation for Prep, Varsity I and Varsity II  on April 1-3.  The deadline for registration is March 15 and space is limited so register now to avoid disappointment.

This will be an open evaluation process for those interested in competing for a spot on one of our Bantam teams.  Our evaluation process is one that is year round.  Current players as well as players outside of our program are always being evaluated for the upcoming 2016-17 season.

The April 1-3 weekend gives the program coaches & evaluation staff an opportunity to view all players in a similar environment, competing against like abilities. Teams will not necessarily be picked this weekend, however it will give coaches the information needed to short list several players for their specific teams.

All players will have 4 ice times with 1 practice and 3 scrimmages.

Tentative Schedule:

Friday, April 1st
Practice 1 5:00pm – 6:00pm
Practice 2 6:15pm – 7:15pm
Practice 3 7:30pm – 830pm

Saturday,  April 2nd
Game 1 8:45am – 11:00am
Game 2 11:15am – 1:30pm
Game 3 4:00pm – 6:15pm
Game 4 6:30pm – 8:45pm

Sunday,  April 3rd
Game 5 9:00am – 11:15am
Game 6 11:30am – 1:45pm

DHA Bantam Prep Silvers at Prestigious John Reid Memorial Tournament

The Wild Bantam Prep team put in a strong performance at the prestigious 38th Annual John Reid Memorial Tournament in St. Albert coming away with a silver medal.

The team put in a solid effort in round robin play making it to the finals on Sunday.  The team was defeated by Yale in the final 4-1 with an empty netter.

Congratulations to Lukas Svejkovsky for being named tournament MVP and the tournament Top Forward! Congratulations to Lukas and Dylan Cozens for being named to the tournament Allstar Team!  Dylan led all players in tournament goals and points, posting 9 goals and 6 assists, for 15 points in 6 games.

The JRMT features teams from across Canada and the United States. The 2015 WHL Bantam Draft featured almost 90 players who were participants in the JRMT, including 14 of 21 first round picks.

A special thanks to all those who made this year’s  JRMT  an amazing tournament!

WHL top pick Ty Smith happy to be with Chiefs

Despite it being a Thursday—a school day—Ty Smith was able to hear his name called in the WHL’s Bantam Draft back in May. After having just returned from a tournament with his Delta Hockey Academy team, Smith parked himself in front of a television set. Instead of squirming, wondering where he would end up being selected, he waited about five minutes to hear the Spokane Chiefs make him the league’s top pick. Smith became the first defenceman selected No. 1 since 2009 when Portland took Derrick Pouliot. For Spokane, it was the start to a strong draft day, as they stocked their pipeline in a way that could make them a serious contender over the next couple of seasons…
