Delta Hockey Academy has kicked off their annual pre-season camp to prepare for the upcoming 2018/2019 season. Students are back to school and full-time training on Tuesday, September 4th while games begin on the first weekend in September for several of the teams.

DHA raising the bar in the classroom
Congratulations to all those DHA student athletes who worked diligently and conscientiously in striking a balance between the demanding role of hockey and their academic pursuits.
DHA is proud to report that 32 players attained Principal’s List status while 117 players attained Honour Roll accolades for Term 1. The Principal’s List requires students to attain a 92% average or higher and an 83% average for Honour Roll in their best 6 of 8 courses.

Bantam Varsity RIBMHT Bantam Tier 1 Champions
Congratulations to the Bantam Varsity team on capturing gold at the recent 37th Annual Richmond International Bantam Midget Hockey Tournament.
The DHA squad (5-1) won the championship after posting a 6-3 win over Port Moody (3-1-2) on Sunday, December 31st. #wildpride
The RIBMHT, hosted by Richmond Minor Hockey, is one of the largest Bantam Midget Tournaments in Canada.

Friesen brings Operation Canadian Soldier to DHA
Delta Hockey Academy is extremely proud of teacher Jackie Friesen, who has introduced her English project, Operation Canadian Soldier to our program.
Midget Prep player Nic Ardanaz and Friesen reflect on the respect and admiration they have for those that have and for those that continue to fight for our country.
In Operation Canadian Soldier, Friesen has the students hand write meaningful letters to the soldiers to remind them that they are not forgotten. Lest we forget. #wildpride

DHA newcomers shine at Baseball World Series in Williamsport
DHA would like to congratulate student athletes Sheldyn Scott and Kyle Chyzowski of White Rock Little League on their outstanding performance as they represent Team Canada at the 2017 Baseball World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
Scott and Chyzowski, both 2004 born multi-sport athletes will suit up for DHA’s Bantam Varsity and Bantam Prep White teams respectively, this coming hockey season.
The Little League World Series is an annual event that brings together the world’s 16 best teams made up of 12- and 13-year-olds. White Rock defeated Quebec in the Canadian National Championships to earn a berth to the prestigious 2017 World Series event.
The Canadian champions, are off to an excellent start with a 2-0 record, downing Italy 12-2 in opening action and Venezuela 7-3 in second day game play.
DHA wishes Sheldyn Scott, Kyle Chyzowski and the rest of Team Canada the best of luck in their upcoming match against Japan and for the remainder of the World Series. Go Team Canada! Wild Pride!

Sourdif signs with the Giants
DHA is extremely proud and would like to congratulate Justin Sourdif on signing with the Vancouver Giants.
The 5’10”, 158lb forward amassed 32 goals and 34 assists in 29 regular season games this year.
The Surrey, B.C. forward was selected by the Giants in the first round, third overall, at the 2017 WHL Bantam Draft.
DHA well represented in the WHL Bantam draft
DHA prospect, Justin Sourdif was claimed 3rd overall in the WHL Bantam draft on Thursday, May 4th in Calgary. Twelve of Sourdif’s teammates would also be drafted that day. Teammate Cole Shepard was drafted by the Vancouver Giants in the 2nd round.
Other Surrey draftees in the 15 year old draft include D man Kurtis Smythe (Saskatoon Blades) 2nd round, D man Bryce Margetson (Moose Jaw Warriors), centre Daniel O’Neil (Lethbridge Hurricanes)
