DHA Bantam Prep 2016 Pat Quinn Classic Champions

Congratulations to the DHA Bantam Prep team on their outstanding achievement at the 2016 Pat Quinn Classic in Burnaby from Dec. 27 – Dec. 30.  The squad emerged the Bantam AAA Elite 2016 champions after defeating Yale 4 – 3 in the final at the Bill Copeland Arena.

Congratulations to Dylan Garand who was named Top Goalie of the tournament and to Payton Mount for being named tournament MVP with 4 goals and 5 assists in 6 games! Congratulations to all players on an outstanding team effort in the championship win! Wild Pride!

The annual prestigious Pat Quinn Classic Bantam AAA Elite group hosted elite teams from across Canada and the U.S. including teams from Prince George, Kelowna, Abbotsford, Shawnigan Lake, Edmonton, Lethbridge, Los Angeles, Colorado and Arizona.

Bantam Prep remains undefeated after weekend back to back wins

Congratulations to the Bantam Prep team for going undefeated over the weekend and having a firm hold on first place with 13 straight wins and 26 points!

On Saturday afternoon the DHA squeaked by POE by a score of 5-4 with the winning OT goal coming off the stick of Tyler Horstmann from Cole Shepard.  Payton Mount led the attack with 2 goals and 2 assists while Nick Ardanaz and Tyler Hortmann added singles. Cole Shepard and Justin Sourdif added 2 helpers each in the win.  Ryan Deighton pushed away 30 of 34 shots fired his way.

Sunday morning the DHA squad blanked out Yale 4 – 0 with Dylan Garand walking away with the shutout, stopping all 32 shots that came his way.  Payton Mount led the scoring with 2 goals and an assist while Justin Sourdif added one goal and 2 assists.  Cole Shepard added a single in the win that helped the DHA team remain undefeated on the season! DHA teams travel together, win together

DHA teams that travel together, win together!  It was a clean sweep for the DHA Female Varsity and Bantam Varsity Green teams as they knocked off OHA in Saturday and Sunday hockey action.

The Female Varsity attack was led by Alexia Ursua who netted 4 goals on Saturday evening in Penticton while Melody Pilchak, Macy and Zoe Leas added singles.  Kesslan McCabe picked up 3 assists while Karina Lannard, Emily Johnston and Mackenzie Paynter added 2 helpers each in the 7 – 1 win. Reece Hiddleston turned away 30 of 31 shots!

On Sunday morning, with Jamie Johnson turning away 26 of 28 shots the DHA squad came away with a 4-2 win to sweep the weekend.  Aimee Brucker led the attack with one goal and two assists, Baie Marcantonio added a goal and an assist while Faithe Harris finished with one goal.

The Female Varsity team holds a solid first place in the division with 32 points on the season!  Go Wild!

The Bantam Varsity Green team holds a commanding lead with 24 points for first place and remains undefeated in their division.

The BVG upended OHA 6 -1 and 11 – 1 on Saturday and Sunday respectively.  It was a balanced attack on Saturday with Carson Latimer leading the attack with one goal and an assist.  Zach Sherwin, Alec Scouras, Lukas Olson, Mark Thurston and Jacob Sherwood all netted singles.  Russell Howlett had 2 helpers while Nathan Kirkpatrick stopped 11 of 12 shots fired his way.

On Sunday morning the boys knocked off OHA 11-1 with scoring and helpers coming from across the board.  Well done Wild!

Bantam Varsity White are the Edge School Fall Classic Champs

Congratulations to the Bantam Varsity White team on their recent success as the Edge School Fall Classic Showcase champions!

In the first game of the 4 team round robin DHA dumped OHA 8-2 on Friday, Oct. 28.  The squad then went on to squeak by the CNHA Blazers 4-3 in game 2 of round robin play.   The go ahead and game winning goal came off the stick of Nicholas Kovacs with only 2 minutes to go in the 3rd period.  In the final game of round robin play, DHA tied St. Albert 3-3 which was good enough to secure first place in their pool.

BV White went on to the semi finals and with a balanced attack and a huge team effort as they upended the competition, IHA, by a score of 8-1 to move on to the finals on Sunday afternoon.

It was a thrilling and tight match in the finals as the DHA came out with the huge 3-2 OT win against Okotoks.  Quinn Messer netted the OT winner for BV White to capture the Edge School Fall Classic title.

“The boys played very hard all tournament showing our character in two come from behind wins, our resiliency in the finals, sticking with the game plan, outshooting the other team 41-14 and finally beating a very good goalie to win it”, said Head Coach Spencer Bennett.

Female Varsity extend win streak to 5 games

Congratulations to the Female Varsity team as they upend OHA twice to extend their win streak to 5 games and overall record to 11-1-0 for a solid first place in the division!

Karina Lannard scored twice as the Delta Hockey Academy skated to a 4-1 win over the Okanagan Hockey Academy in Canadian Sport School Hockey League Female Varsity Division action on Saturday afternoon.  Reese Hiddleston made 21 saves of 22 shots in the win.

Back to back shutouts for Female Varsity to begin Coeur d’Alene Showcase

DHA girls blanked out their opponents with back to back shutouts on Friday in the Coeur d’ Alene Showcase.

Aimee Brucker factored in on all three goals as the Delta Hockey Academy shutout the Coeur d’ Alene Hockey Academy by a score of 3-0 on Friday afternoon.  Faithe Harris potted her 4th goal of the season.

Reese Hiddleston pushed away all 18 shots put her way, grabbing her second shutout on the season.

Later that evening, Melody Pilchak scored the winner, while Baie Marcantonio added a third period tally as Delta (8-1-0) skated to their second straight shutout of the day.

Jamie Johnson stopped all 19 shots she faced as the Delta Hockey Academy were 2-0 winners over the Banff Hockey Academy on Friday night.  This marks Johnson’s second shutout on the season.

DHA Bantam Varsity teams post Friday night wins

Sammy May and Holden Cardinal each found the back of the net twice and Alec Scouras added a single as Delta Hockey Academy Green won their sixth straight game, defeating the Pursuit of Excellence by a 5-3 score on Friday.  Nathan Kirkpatrick pushed away 28 of 31 shots for the win.

Kai Daniells scored three times, while Nelson Griffiths stopped all 18 shots he faced as Delta Hockey Academy White blanked the International Hockey Academy by a 8-0 score on Friday evening.

Carson Merriman, Luke Pakulak, Pierce Lee and Liam Tanner added goals for the win.

DHA E15’s sweep Calgary showcase over the weekend

DHA E 15’s balanced attack helped the team come away with 3 solid wins at the Calgary showcase over the weekend.

On Friday afternoon DHA dumped POE 8-2 after Tyus Gent netted 3 goals and an assist while Lukas Svejkovsky added a goal and 2 assists.  Ben Ward (2 goals ), Tyler Price  (a goal and an assist)  and Kolton Cousins (a goal) also found the back of the net.  Corson Hopwo, Corey Cunninham, Ty Brant, Jack Glen, Dillon Maher, Nicholas Kent and Kiernan Bailey added helpers.  Two goals were posted on the powerplay (50%).

Elliott Marshall turned away 11 of 13 shots.

On Saturday afternoon the DHA upended Okanagan Hockey Academy E15’s by a score of 5-2, outshooting the competition 32-19.  Corey Cunningham led the attack with 2 goals and an assist while Corson Hopwo, Dillon Maher and Lukas Svejkovsky also potted goals.  Matthew Cadden, Tyus Gent, Jack Glen, Ben Ward, Kolton Cousins, Nicholas Kent and Garrett Wicks added helpers.

Sunday’s afternoon hockey action resulted in DHA coming out on top by a score of 8-1 over the Northern Alberta Xtreme 15s.  Again, the scoring and helpers were spread throughout the DHA roster.

Geo Wilson came away with the win while pushing away 30 of 31 shots.
