O’Hearn signs with BCHL’s Trail Smoke Eaters

DHA is extremely proud and congratulates Midget Prep player Kieran O’Hearn on signing with the BCHL’s Trail Smoke Eaters for the 2018-2019 campaign.

O’Hearn, who has been with the Academy for the past four years, won the Prep Championship in 2017 and has 69 has amassed points in 120 games for the DHA.

Raising the Bar at CSSHL Awards and in Academics

DHA is extremely proud and wishes to congratulate Emma Lee on being named the Most Sportsmanlike Player for Female Varsity Division and Ryan Deighton on being named the Top Goaltender for the Elite 15 Division at the 2017-2018 CSSHL Awards.

Alum Ty Taylor named Top Goaltender in BCHL

DHA is extremely proud and congratulates alum Ty Taylor on being named the Top Goaltender in the BCHL.

Taylor attended the Delta Hockey Academy during the 2015-16 season, backstopping the Midget Prep team to a 2016 CSSHL Championship. In 18 regular season games, the Richmond, B.C. product posted a 15-3-0 record with a 1.46 goals-against average, a .943 save-percentage and four shutouts.

The six-foot-three, 200-pounder is currently in his second season with the Vernon Vipers. In 31 games this season, he had a 23-5-3 record with a 1.87 goals-against average, .931 save-percentage and seven shutouts.

Alum Nick Wicks awarded for hard work with BCHL’s Merritt Centennials

DHA is extremely proud and congratulates Merritt Centennials Nick Wicks on his recent team accolades.  Wicks was presented with this year’s Best +/- Award and the prestigious Joe Tenant Award – Most Dedicated Player Award.

The Centennials veteran, has also been nominated for the BCHL’s Most Sportsmanlike Player.  Wicks has played 54 games this season for the Centennials and posted 12 goals and 32 assists along with just six penalty minutes. #wildpride

Bantam Prep White emerge President’s Day Champions in Arizona

Congratulations to the Bantam Prep White on bringing home the 2018 President’s Day banner over the weekend.

The team battled back from behind for a 4-3 championship win after an early first period 3-0 deficit against the Arizona Bobcats Gough.

Matthew Ward had 2 goals and 2 helpers in the huge win while Luke Pakulak and Killean McGregor-Bennett added singletons.

DHA Alumni Smith, Comrie, Budy and Stuart on NHL Midterm Rankings

Team West.jpgDHA is extremely proud to announce that four alumni are listed by NHL Central Scouting in the midterm rankings.

Ty Smith, currently plays for the Spokane Chiefs (WHL) and is ranked 14th.
Sean Comrie who currently plays for Spruce Grove (AJHL) is ranked 105th.
Brendan Budy currently play for Langley Rivermen  (BCHL) and is ranked 138th.
Brodi Stuart  who currently plays for Kamloops Blazers (WHL) is ranked 144th.

Budy and Comrie, representing Team West at the recent President’s Cup CJHL Hockey Prospects Game, defeated Team East 5-2 for the win.

Female Prep Organize Brain Cancer Fundraiser

Delta Hockey Academy Female Prep Brain Cancer Fundraiser game…..

In November, 2017, we lost our precious 9-year-old niece/cousin, Nora, to a rare and currently incurable childhood brain cancer (DIPG).

In Nora’s memory, our daughter Macy and her Delta Wild, Prep Female hockey team have organized an exhibition game against the Vancouver Comets Midget AAA Female hockey team. The purpose of this game is to raise awareness, and money for Meagan’s Walk which funds brain cancer research, including DIPG, at the Toronto Sick Kids Hospital.

It will be an exciting, action-packed competition. These 14- to 18-year-old ladies will demonstrate how advanced female hockey has become in Canada. The results of their years of hard practice, unwavering focus and excellent coaching will surely amaze you.

There will also be a puck toss and other fundraising activities in which you can engage.

Donations to the Meagan’s Walk Foundation can be made in Nora’s name by clicking on the link below, then clicking on the ‘Donate‘ button and completing the form. Any amount will be appreciated. Income tax receipts will be emailed for donations of $20+. Donations can also be made at the game by completing a pledge form which will also generate a tax receipt.
